Comparing the Dreo 36-inch tower fan vs Meaco Sefte Smart 36 is a useful way to decide whether you need app control or mainly want a remote and a timer. Both use a tall fan format; neither is a refrigerating air conditioner.
This is a research-based buying guide, not a hands-on test. We checked manufacturer information and available retailer listings on 20 October 2026. We have not measured airflow, noise, reliability or real-world energy use. Check the exact model, UK plug, seller, price and availability before ordering.
Dreo 36-inch tower fan vs Meaco Sefte: the versions matter
The Dreo offer linked here is the black 36-inch Standard selection at Amazon UK, ASIN B09MKPDJRT. At our check it listed eight speeds, four modes, an eight-hour timer and 90-degree oscillation. The same product family has appeared under Nomad One and Tower Fan 307 naming, with different specifications across versions. Read the selected offer rather than relying on an older review.
Meaco’s comparison model is specifically the Sefte Smart 36-inch Tower Fan, not the smaller 19-inch tower. Its manufacturer specification lists 12 speeds, app control, a glow-in-the-dark magnetic remote and selectable horizontal oscillation angles up to 180 degrees. The night controls can turn off the display and mute sounds.

When the Dreo is the sensible shortlist
Choose around the controls you expect to use. If you normally sit on the sofa, change the speed with a remote and set an off timer, an app may add little value. In that situation, compare the delivered price of the Standard Dreo with Meaco’s model, along with the return and warranty terms of the seller.
Check the base dimensions as well as the tower’s width. A slim upright still needs floor space and a stable position, with the cable routed safely. Check whether the controls are easy to see from your seat and whether the airflow outlet lines up with the part of your body you want to cool.
When Meaco’s smart features may be worth it
The Sefte is worth comparing if you want a narrower or wider powered sweep, or expect to use app schedules. Meaco lists 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi support. Confirm the current app requirements and the functions you can use without a phone. A smart label is useful only when it changes something about your routine.
Avoid turning the fan on in an empty room simply because remote control makes it possible. A fan provides a breeze rather than removing the room’s heat, so running it before anyone arrives does not provide the same result as pre-cooling with an air conditioner.
What the noise claims do and do not establish
Both product pages promote low noise, but we have not tested them together at matched airflow. Minimum published decibel figures are not a guarantee of silence at a useful speed, and they may be measured under different conditions. Look at night-time lighting, control sounds and oscillation behaviour as well as the headline noise claim.
Dreo’s UK Tower Fan 307 page and support page also demonstrate why matching the exact regional version matters. Do not transfer US voltage information or specifications from a Wi-Fi model to the Standard UK offer.
Running-cost context
Meaco publishes a 3.5–34W power range for the Smart 36. At an illustrative 25p/kWh, a continuous 34W draw costs 0.85p per hour, or £2.04 over 30 days at eight hours per day. This is arithmetic using a stated rating, not a measurement or a matched comparison with the Dreo.
If your priority is lowering the room temperature rather than feeling a breeze, read our portable air-conditioner BTU sizing guide and our portable air-conditioner running-cost guide. Buying a more expensive fan does not turn it into an air conditioner.
Our buying verdict
Shortlist the Dreo Standard for remote-first operation; consider the Meaco if app control and adjustable sweep angles are functions you will use. The Meaco Smart 36 was out of stock direct when checked. Compare live availability and avoid an unintended colour, generation or Wi-Fi variant.
