Duux Threesixty 2 Buying Guide: Is a Smart Fan Heater Worth It?

The Duux Threesixty 2 is a smart ceramic fan heater to consider when compact size and app control matter more to you than the simplest possible controls. For a home office, the useful question is whether those extras fit your routine and justify the purchase price.

This guide is based on manufacturer information checked on 20 October 2026. We have not tested the heater, app reliability, room warm-up speed or sound levels ourselves. It is a buying guide rather than a hands-on review.

Duux Threesixty 2: what the specifications tell you

The Duux UK Gen 2 specification lists a maximum output of 1,800W, three heating settings, two fan modes and app temperature adjustment from 18°C to 30°C. The published footprint is approximately 21.5 × 21.5cm. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from our own test.

When smart controls are worth considering

App controls may be useful if you want to adjust the temperature while sitting at your desk. They are less compelling if you prefer a physical dial you can understand at a glance. Think about who else will use the room: a heater that depends on one person’s phone for preferred settings may create more friction than convenience.

Before buying, read the Threesixty 2 manual and check the app’s requirements and your network. The setup guidance calls for a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Confirm that the controls you need remain practical if your phone or connection is unavailable. The manual describes this as a supplementary appliance for well-insulated spaces or occasional use.

How much does a Duux Threesixty 2 cost to run?

At an illustrative 25p/kWh, continuous operation at 1,800W costs 45p per hour: 1.8kW × £0.25. Four hours at that output uses 7.2kWh and costs £1.80. Repeat that every day for 30 days and the example totals £54. Use your actual unit rate for a personal estimate.

If the average consumption during the same four hours were half the maximum, the calculation would be 3.6kWh and 90p per day. That is a scenario, not a measured duty cycle. The selected setting, thermostat, room temperature and heat loss determine the result. An “Eco” label does not guarantee a particular bill.

For a different wattage or tariff, adapt our guide to 2kW electric heater running costs. Lower maximum power reduces consumption while operating at that power, but also limits the heat available to the room.

Noise and room coverage: avoid two assumptions

Do not assume a fan heater will be inaudible during calls. Duux publishes a 38–46dB noise range on its UK page, but that does not establish how distracting it will sound in your room. If fan noise bothers you, check return terms and compare a heater format without a fan.

Likewise, a room-size headline is not a guarantee of comfort in every room of that area. A draughty corner office with several external walls can require more heat than a sheltered room of the same floor area. Neither a smart app nor a different airflow pattern can compensate indefinitely for insufficient heating capacity.

Before ordering and using it

Match the listing to Gen 2 and check the UK plug, available controls and current warranty terms. Keep the air path unobstructed. Follow the manual and Electrical Safety First’s portable heater advice; remote controls are not a reason to run a portable heater unattended.

Our buying verdict

Consider the Threesixty 2 if you want a small fan heater and will regularly use its app features. Compare simpler models if you mainly want a switch and thermostat. For the broader choice of heating formats, read our oil-filled radiator versus fan heater comparison and browse our Heating guides.

Will the app automatically save money?

Only if your settings and behaviour reduce energy consumption. Convenience alone does not change the cost of a kWh.

Can it replace the main heating system?

Do not plan a whole-home heating replacement around a portable supplementary heater. Assess the room’s needs and follow the manufacturer’s intended use.
